The Rabbit's ears by Arlo Tunutmoak:the Rabbit's ears
Once long ago a rabbit's ears used to be the same as a dog's. But one time when a certain rabbit was hopping along home an Eagle soaring overhead swooped down and picked the rabbit up by the ears. The rabbit struggled and struggled to get away--and succeeded after much hard work. But after he hopped home, the next day he noticed his ears were a little longer than usual. The same day the rabbit went for a long journey over to the other side of the mountain to visit his relatives. While he was hopping happily along the Eagle swooped down and grabbed ahold of his ears. Again the rabbit struggled and struggled for all he was worth and again he finally got away and dropped down on the top of the mountain. On his way down the mountain his ears seemed to feel a little longer than they had the day before. But he kept on hopping along, and by the time he got to his relative's house his ears had grown long and flexible. And that's why rabbits have long ears today. THE ENDARLO TUNUTMOAK 8 7'e r | |
