A Summer With Christopher

This year my summer went by pretty fast because I had to cut a lot of fish. I also did a lot of babysitting. Another thing that made time go by so quickly was working with the S.Y.E.T.P (Summer Youth Educational Training Program). I was stationed at the City Office and did some filing, bookkeeping, and other things. I also worked for the Marshall Fish Plant where we did a lot of fish processing and other labor.

This summer was special, too, because I got to spend some time with my big brother Christopher who was on leave from the Marine Corps. Chris was here during the first part of July for about two weeks. While he was here we spent a lot of time catching up on the little things that had taken place in our lives over the past year. We shared each other's thoughts about how life would be if he was living here, and how much fun it might be if we both were down in San Diego where he is stationed.

We also took a lot of boat rides through Marshall's vast wilderness. On one of our trips we went to Devil's Elbow where on our way out we came across a cow and her calf swimming in the water. We drove right up to it, and I pulled the cow's ears. But when it turned its head towards the front of our boat I got very scared because they are known to attack even while they're in the water. So we immediately turned away from them and just watched them as they climbed onto the land and headed for safety.

While Chris was here time flew by very quickly because we did everything that took up a lot of time together. It was great to see him again, and I was sad when he had to go back to San Diego.
