This summer Roberta really didn't have any plans except to get ready for commercial fishing. She wanted to go out camping, but that never happened. Commercial fishing was nothing to brag about because it was a slow season for Roberta. She went out berry picking here and there, mostly by the bluffs and up on the mountain. The funniest experience she had this summer was when she and her family went to a sand bar across from Vernon Evan's fish camp. There her brother Fred Fitka threw Lois in some dirty water where she didn't want to swim. This summer she also traveled to Anchorage and Seward for the 4th of July. She stayed over there for about a week doing some shopping for her sister Brenda's wedding. Roberta's summer was about the same as other summers. The weather was okay, with lots of sunshine, but it was too hot! And she didn't have any bad encounters with wild animals. She only saw the tracks of bears, moose, etc. The only thing she wishes is that the King season would have been a little better. By: Roberta Fitka  | |
