Richard's John Deere Summer

At the end of the school year Richard and his family went back to South Dakota to see their son and other family members. He was very anxious to get back to South Dakota because he had bought a new riding mower for the big yard they have. He never did think that the mowing would be fun, but the mower turned out to be better than he expected.

He spent a part of his summer getting a house ready to be moved. It was a big job for him because the weather was very hot and humid. Once the house was ready to be moved it only took the house movers two days to jack it up and move it to its new location.

A fun trip that they took was to Amama, lowa, where they had a show of old restored John Deere tractors and machinery. On the way back he and Janice stopped to see his cousin who is an air traffic controller in DeMoines. They had a fun time visiting because they don't see each other that often. Then they stopped at another antique tractor show.

The last place they stopped on the trip was in Elk Horn to visit the Danish Immigrant Museum. The most interesting thing they saw there was a piano donated by Victor Borga.

One of the last things they did before coming back to Alaska was attend a family reunion in Nebraska with Janice's relatives.

One of the favorite things he did was go golfing with his son, something he does only once a year.

It was very nice to get back to Marshall because everyone welcomed them back. He is looking forward to a good school year. He says that everything is going great so far.
