Paul's Successful Hunt

During this past summer Paul Boots says he didn't do that much. He mostly worked on the high school with Nick Duny and Katemal Shorty. He painted and fixed class rooms with them. He also commercial fished for Kings and had one of his best seasons ever. Leo Fitka and Larry Evan were his helpers during commercial fishing.

On September 1, he went out moose hunting up river above Russian Mission. He was out for seven days and saw mostly cow moose, but one morning when he started to come back to Marshall he saw a bull moose five miles below Russian Mission and he was able to get his winter's meat supply.

Anastasia's Berry Picking Summer

This summer Anastasia went out berry picking many different times. She didn't cut fish because she went to the hospital in Anchorage. She says that her summer went very slow because she didn't get to do things she normally did.

She once went down to Mountain Village for one of her relative's wedding. Then the following day she went to a fiddle dance there. She went down with Nastasia Turet, Dominic Kockrine and me. They stayed down there for three days. It was a long ride down the river and an even longer ride back up because they ran out of gas just below Takchak. They were lucky my oldest brother Joseph and his friend Nathan Evan were just going out hunting because they gave them enough gas to come home.

The only thing she really liked about her summer was picking berries and being with her great grandson who she sometimes babysits.
