Elena's Nome Summer

This past summer Elena did a lot of things. When spring arrived she prepared for cutting fish. After the Kings and Chums arrived she cut fish for winter use. After her fish were dry she stored them so that later they could eat them whenever they wanted.

Elena and Leslie spent their 4th of July in Nome. She said that she enjoyed it a lot because she had never been in Nome before. The weather was beautiful while they were there, and they rode all over Nome in a car. They spent three days there.

On Aug. 14, she started working as head cook in the school. She likes her job but she said it is different because in Pitkas Point she had to serve about 50 staff and students where here she has to serve about 100. And she says it sort of stresses her out. But she is getting used to it and everything's going fine for her.

On September 3 Elena, Leslie and Micah went out hunting in their boat. They didn't expect to see a moose but they did, and they caught it. It saved Leslie a big trip up river to catch a moose.

Her plans for next summer are to do the same thing all over again.
