Camping at Chuilnguq

This summer I took my family on a camping trip up the Chuilnguq River. We followed Frank Coffee to camp. It took about two and a half hours to get there.

We set up our tents, built a fire and the kids were trying to catch the big one with their fishing rods. Meanwhile, Pat, Jon, and Richard went further up the river and made camp there.

The next morning after breakfast we went further up the river through a lake and into another river. We followed that until it got shallow, then we started casting our rods.

Patrick went up the river another bend from where we were and saw a couple of moose. We pulled our anchor and went up to see if we could spot the moose, but they were already in the willows. Then we went over to the bank and tried our luck fishing there. Will and Jon caught a couple of King salmon casting from the banks, so everybody else started fishing there.

After everyone was tired of fishing, we went back to camp and had supper. Then we went to bed.

We camped a couple more days. One day it got really smokey, and we stayed in our tents until the smoke cleared.

I enjoyed the camping trip and I'll do it again next year."
