Natalia's Summer

This summer Natalia became a grandmother again. This time she had a grandson. Her daughter, Marcia, had a baby boy and she named him John Anthony. He was born in Bethel on May 4th. And as his grandma, Natalia had to take care of John while Marcia was working.

But besides baby sitting, she also did other things. When it was time to cut fish she started filling her smoke house with fish. This year she didn't cut a lot of fish like she did last year. And this year she didn't have any problems with bears, which was good. A couple years ago a brown bear got into her smoke house and took some fish.

When the berries were ready to pick, she went out berry picking with Nick Boots and his family up to Willow Creek. She picked blue berries which she likes making Eskimo ice cream with.

On August 23 she made fry bread for Robert and Palassa Owletuck's wedding, then on the day of the wedding she went and watched.

She didn't do too much this summer, but she said it was okay anyway. Next year she hopes to cut more fish and pick more berries.
