My New Baby Girl

This summer about two weeks after school got out, I had another baby girl. It all started on the 29th of May when I began to have contractions. I was supposed to leave for Bethel on the 20th, but I didn't want to leave my daughter Mary behind. So I didn't go over. When the contractions started I called the clinic and told the health aide. They told me that I had to go in the next day. So that night I started packing my stuff.

All that night I barely slept because of my contractions. When they started to get closer I woke up Jason and told him about them. He then called Nora and she said that I needed to go up to the clinic immediately.

We went to the clinic around 3:30 A.M. Nora told Jason to keep track of my contractions. She then called Oxie and Liz and told them to come to the clinic. Liz was to be the one to deliver the baby because she was the most experienced.

Around 6:30 A.M. I finally delivered. Then around 7:30 A.M. I called down to Mt.. Village and told Flora Kokrine the baby was a girl. She already had a boy and so she was very excited it was a girl. She was so excited, in fact, she woke everyone up! Oxie then called her again and told her what she was going to name the baby: Desiree Rose Kokrine. She was 7 lbs. 8 ozs. and she was 19 inches in length.

That same morning, Jason went over to Bethel with us. While we were there both Desiree and I got checked. Flora met us at the hospital and picked up the baby. It was late by the time we got done so we had to camp at Bethel. Flora had already Desiree, so Jason and I went home the next day.

Jason had to go to Dillingham to fish with his uncle, Max for awhile, but after he got home we went on a lot of boat rides together. We went rodding and had a good time. Mary was always with us, and she had a good time too-probably too much of a good time, so that when she took a nap she slept for hours!

Things were back to normal for our family, but I still wished I could have kept Desiree. But then, I'll see her again soon!
