Fun at Fish Camp

On the fifth day of June Vernon, Irene, Terri, Bill, Flora, Debbie, and Anna went up to their fish camp which is below Kuik. The first day they were there Vernon set out two nets, a king net and a short chum net. Later on that day when Vernon checked the nets both were filled with fish. When he was done he set the king net at the first bluff. The next day Bill and Terri went to check the net and stayed there a long time, which made Vernon wonder a little. Not too long afterwards Bill and Terri came around the bend with a very loaded boat. Within the two days they had their nets out they caught about seventy-three kings and a lot of chums. It took them four days to cut all those fish.

Everybody stayed up at their camp from the fifth of June till the twenty-ninth, which gave the fish enough time to dry. Altogether they filled up nine buckets and a fifty pound barrel with the fish that they cut. Vernon said they filled up all the fish racks and that he had to build another. About a week after they came back to Marshall someone asked Vernon if he would go and get some more fish, and he said that he got "enough fish" this summer.
