Frances's Kuik trip

"In July I went with Kathy Peteroff and her family to pick blueberries up at Kuik. When we got there we went inside a little slough called Cuuqfak. The first place we stopped and checked had only a few blueberries and there was a black bear on the other side of the slough about five miles or so away. Ben Peteroff tried shooting at it and missed by what seemed a mere inch! The bear jumped and ran up the hill, sat in front of the tree line for a while, then disappeared. We had lunch there and then picked berries until we decided to move to another spot. The spot we moved to was a much larger area and had more blue berries so we decided to pick there. After filling our buckets we went home."
