Andy's Commercial Fishing

"This summer fishing wasn't so hot. Tim, my captain, had to work on his motor for two openings and we had to borrow Abus's 70 h.p. And it was really slow with no power to pull the heavy load. For the last two openings we fished around St. Mary's. And that sure was a different story! Down there it's a much wider river and kind of scary when it's rough. The water was pretty low too and we had to use a shallow mesh net. The first three openings we'd fished around the Ingrihak area and it was deeper there. So we sure missed using a deep mesh net because it makes us work harder. I love the harder work. Using a shallow mesh net was so easy we didn't even get tired by the end of an opening. It sure was cold too during the first opening. It even snowed and the water was freezing. Although it wasn't very hard work and the fishing wasn't too good, I enjoyed my summer very much."
