Ray's Plans for the New Dump

Ray Alstrom spent much of his summer trying to get the new dump built. Through the summer he and the City of Marshall were working with the Department of Environmental Conservation and the Village Safe Water Program. Through their efforts they were able to purchase a CASE front-end loader to load the dump trucks quicker and complete the dump project quicker. They hired a supervisor, four operators, two laborers, and a mechanic, all local residents. The supervisor for this project is David Fitka, operators are Robert Owletuck, David Evan, Clem Kameroff and Roy Fitka, and the mechanic is Jerry Boliver. Since there were a lot of applicants for laborers, they are going to be rotated: two laborers for a two week period, then another two for the same period.

The dump project did not start on schedule, however, because of technicalities in the memorandum of understanding. But these road blocks have been ironed out by the Department of Transportation and Village Safe Water Program and the project should begin rolling by 8/28/95. The project is almost three months behind schedule but they should be able to complete part of the road to the new landfill site by the end of October. The whole project should be completed by the end of 1997. After the project is completed the old site will be covered and all large items will be moved to the new landfill site. So, in the future our road to the airport should look a 100% better.
