Matthew's Encounter with Bears

This summer in late June JB and Jackie George took a trip up to Devil's Elbow to do some drifting for Leslie Hunter. They went up with two boats, JB's and Leslie's. Aboard JB's boat were Matthew, Wee-gee, and himself. Jackie and Everrett were in Leslie's boat. While Jackie and Everrett were drifting, JB and his crew went to check out some sloughs further inside the Elbow. First, they went to the little slough at the mouth of lgevraq Slough, and that was where they saw a black bear. It was sitting down by the water about a hundred yards away from them. Matthew and Wee-gee shot at it and missed like crazy. "I would've caught it but I had Wee-gee's gun. I kept on trying to load until I finally realized there was already a bullet in the barrel," Matthew said. After the bear ran up the beach they followed it a little ways but failed to find it or any blood trails they thought it might have left. JB got mad at Matthew and Wee-gee because they missed a close bear. Then after they left the little slough and entered lgevraq Slough where they saw a black bear that was even closer than the first one. Matthew and Wee-gee were going to shoot it but it ran into the trees too fast for them to get their guns ready. Then they rode around in lgevraq Slough for a little while until JB decided to head on home. They said the trip home was fun because they all were shooting at sea gulls with shot guns.
