Juliana's Day of Animals And Berries:Juliana's Day of Animals And
Berries
On one of the few nice days we had this summer, my mom went on a trip to pick blue and blackberries with her brother in law, her sister, and some other people. It was very nice, although a little bit too hot to be on the tundra. Even so, she was glad when Lena asked her to go with them to Cuggerpak. While they were making their way through the slough and towards the tundra they saw two young foxes playing in the grass. When they saw them, they took off into the trees. Before going up to the tundra to pick berries they had some lunch in the boat. When they finished eating they grabbed their buckets and went up to see what they could find. Since there were a lot of berries it was easier and faster to fill their buckets. My mom said she had fun picking the berries because there were so many. But it was very hot and she was sweating miserably. After they were satisfied with their pick or just plain exhausted from the glaring sun they decided it was time to go. But, before they went down to the boat, someone spotted a moose in a meadow, so they stopped to watch it eat for awhile. Then they went back to the boat. As they were coming out of Takchak Slough they saw a beaver and three beaver houses. After they got out of the slough, they stopped at the bluffs to collect maqi wood so they could steam clean themselves after their very sweaty day. My mom said she was happy she went with them even though it was hot because she got to see many different animals and she was able to pick a lot of berries.
