Summer
Roger and Judy canoed in the Nancy Lakes area near Willow. They canoed through 12 lakes and had to portage to get through each one. Roger had to carry the canoe over the portages. He also taught his son John how to canoe. They all enjoyed the beautiful country and the weather as well. Roger also did a lot of mountain biking with Judy at Kincade Park in Anchorage. And they went hiking in the Chugach Mountains. Roger's father came up to Anchorage to visit him for about ten days. It was his father's first visit to Alaska and he really enjoyed it. He thought Alaska was a beautiful place. Later in the summer Roger and Judy took a trip down to New Mexico to visit his father. The weather was so hot there that Roger had to spend as much time as he could in the mountains. Roger and Judy both participated in three western state action shooting events. He had to shoot an old time pistol, shotgun and a rifle in some so called "cowboy scenes." Roger enjoyed it even though Judy outshot him sometimes with the pistol and the rifle.
