My Weird Trip to Cuilenguq!

In mid July, Mary, Fedusia, Roberta, Michael, Jackie, Jordan, Jeremy, Kathy, Lois and I went on a camping trip for one night to pick salmon berries at Cuilnguq.

Before we took off for Cuilenguq, first we had to organize every thing, get gas, and then get on our way. As we were going along the ride seemed pretty boring and lonesome. So Kathy, Lois and I started acting weird. We were acting so weird that we completely forgot about the time. After about 1 5 minutes I had a headache from laughing so much. I said, "I got a headache." Kathy wanted to help me so she said "Let me show you how to cure headaches?" I said "go ahead." So she rubbed her hands together while breathing in and out. Then she rubbed my forehead while Mary, Roberta, and I don't know who else were watching. But I know they were thinking "How stupid.!"

After a while I remember hearing Kathy say to my sister, Lois, "If we stop on land, and if we see a moose, just say BOO! and it'll take off." After she said that, Lois and I burst out laughing, and we laughed non-stop till it started to rain. We didn't want to get wet, so Lois took Roberta's rain coat and put it over Kathy, me, and herself. While we were under the rain coat we listened to music. As time went by we started wondering how come we were slowing down. Holy mother nature! We found out we had been lost for at least four boring hours!

When we finally arrived at Cuilnguq eight hours later all of us had to clear an open area for the tent. After the tent was set up, the men went to hunt, and we gals stayed home and were bored.

That night and the next morning I had to babysit Jordan. We played football, trucks, and laughed at funny things. On the tundra we walked around and ate some salmon berries. Everybody was on the tundra picking and enjoying the sun and rain as it passed.

After we filled up all of our buckets we went back and repacked all our junk, loaded the boat, and took off for Marshall again. On the way back I counted at least 20 BIG beaver houses and watched how all the birds took off when they heard gun shots. We also chased little ducks while they were swimming in the water.

When we reached Takchak Jeremy started to pick on Michael. Roberta, Kathy, and Jeremy were in the front of the boat. Jeremy was shouting "Fredgy!" Man his face expression was so funny. So I moved up to the front of the boat because those people were having so much fun. Kathy, Lois and I started talking about getting poked in the rump with needles. It was fun, but it all had to end when they told us to shut up!

"What a great trip!"
