Clara's Wonderful Summer

Clara had an exciting summer even thougth she spent most of her time watching her baby Tamlyn at home. She also had some time to spend cutting fish (38 chums) with her mother-in-law.

She went to Kwik once and had a wonderful picnic with her family. Her girls went swimming and her little baby Tamlyn went for a walk in the water. She was scared at first but she got brave and ran until she fell headfirst was in the water. But Clara ran up to her and grabbed her out by her swimsuit. Clara said she was so scared that she doesn't want to bring her baby anywhere by boat anymore.

Later Clara went berry picking with Barbra Fitka on a very hot day! Clara also had an idea to go swimming, but Gloria said there's too many pike! They tried to look for salmon berries, but they only found dried up leaves, and some small blue berries.

From June 4-10 she went to school in Barrow for a Science Concepts course which included watching the weather and things having to do with our Native way of living. She studied about Native resources, and how we should take care of our game for the future of our children. She said it's important for Native people to get involved in their goose management plans and their subsistence laws so our animals will be around for the future children. Clara also thinks it's really important to start a natural museum here. She had a fun time while she was their learning about Science and the Native way of living.
