Bernice Working At Anchorage

After school was out Bernice went to Anchorage to work with the RAPS program. She left Marshall on June 11. When she got to Anchorage, she met her boss Phil North. Phil and Bernice worked for EPA, which means Environmental Protection Agency. It was a pretty hard job because she had to travel at least one hundred miles every day.

Her first trip was from Anchorage to Circle Hot Springs to take

samples of water, earth, and insects. She had to adapt very quickly to the heat there because it was at least 30 to 40 degrees hotter than it was here.

After staying there for a week, she went back to where she was staying in Eagle River. There she had to work in her bosse's office in the Federal Court House Building. She had to work on a pile of papers about two feet high. Her summer there was okay but she ran into health problems and decided to come back home early.

The rest of the summer here was okay, but she said she didn't go on even one boat ride and that was odd for her. Plus, after being in a city so long she said it felt like she was in a fish camp in Marhall. But she had a little fun and she made the best out of being here.
