My Trip To Wasilla

What was my summer like this year? Well, for one thing it was a lot better than last summer. Why? On the third of August I got to attend a Leadership Training Camp in Wasilla. The conference was held at the Meir Lake Conference Center.

When I first heard that I got accepted to LTC I was really wishing that my summer would go by fast. Then all of a sudden it was the third and I was going. I was scared and excited at the same time, wondering what LTC would be like.

There were a lot of people from all over and five of us from the LYSD, plus our chaperone. It was a whole lot of fun, learning and meeting different people.

We mostly stayed with our councils where we were given some things to do. My council was the "Potential Insubornate Ventricles (PIV'S). Each council had a name, like Quarks, Parodox, Imagination, Silent Circle, Knuckleheads and the PlV'S. Each council had two counsellors. Some of the things we had to do included cleaning up the lodge, and helping around. We also had free time in which we found our own things to do.

One thing I hated was getting up early, at 7:30, and doing all sorts of physical things for a half hour, like swimming, volleyball, running, exercises and walking.

The thing I most liked was the candle light ceremony our group had for everyone. That was what we did for closing. We all had cupcake holders with one candle in it. We lit our candles that were in the cupcake holder and let them float in the water. That was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.

There were a lot of other things we did too. But it was the most fun when we were all in our councils. Every council became really close as we got used to one another.

The last day was both fun and sad because it was our last day in LTC and we all didn't want to go home. I hope that I get to attend LTC again next year because it was a fun and exciting experience.
