Exciting But Sometimes Slow

A week after school was out, I started a job with the Maserculiq Corporation at the gas station. There I worked as a bookkeeper with Ellen Alstrom. They needed a student to help, and she asked me because I was excited about it. I worked part time from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and from Monday to Saturday. Also, when the gas man needed help counting the money, I would help him. I would also write the slips while he went to pump some gas or diesel. I also helped with the computer they had in the office which was difficult because it was an IBM. I've worked only with Macintosh SE's, so it took a while to learn the IBM.

At times when I wasn't working I would go to our fish camp to see how it looked or what was going on. When commercial fishing came, I would go up to camp to watch them fish. It was exciting, but sometimes slow. Then when the berries started to bloom and ripen, I went out to pick with my mother (Julia) and her sisters. We picked salmon berries and blue berries all mixed together. When the days got hot and sweaty, I would go with my cousins, brother and sister and our friends to the sandbar to swim or take a sun bath. I would also have to bring my nephews along with me because they liked the sand and water too. This year my summer was calm and quiet, although also a little lonely at times. I stayed home part of the time cleaning up, watching movies or babysitting.

This summer my brother Tom also came home from training which was exciting. I stayed with my sister Tina, friend Palassa, and my family. It was interesting sometimes because there was always something to do every day either with someone or by myself. I look forward next year to an even better summer.
