My Mother's Summer:My Mother's Summer
This is what my mother did this summer. She went to work at the Co-op and worked at the front of the barge. Also she cut fish at our smoke house. Then she put them away for the winter. She also put some in the freezer for later use. Then she went to other villages like Marshall, Mountain Village, St. Mary's, Kotlik and Sheldon Point to dance with my dad. They went to Panic Place located below Emmonak, for a picnic. She then went to her favorite berry place to pick berries for winter use. They caught a lot of white fish for their agutak. Part of the summer they also stayed home and worked and made money for the winter. Then she said, 'Let's move up here and help my grandpa get fat again.' That is all she did this summer.
