Julia Papp's Summer Story

This summer Julia commercial fished, and in between breaks she subsistence fished. Sometimes she got very busy, like one day she had to commercial fish and then cut King salmon right through the night without sleeping at all. She cut up everything except the guts and dried it. Julia also went out by boat with her friends to pick berries. Sometimes she would also go up on the tundra and pick by herself. She and James would spend most of their time up in our fish camp. She likes staying out in the country where all the animals are and where it is quiet and peaceful. Julia would always bring her grandchildren up to fish camp whenever she had nothing to do and she wanted them to be with her. She also had a party for her grandson after he caught his first rabbit. After all her summer work was over, she started working at the Co-op store. She has a break once in a great while, but she says, "It is good to be busy and work. It makes your mind and body feel good."
