Dear Frank,

I just finished reading a number of the student writings that were included in Summer Time Trails from Marshall, AK. I certainly found out a lot about what people from Marshall did over the summer. I felt I learned a lot more however, because the writings did more than tell about actions, they told quite a bit about how people felt about what they did over the summer. These students have taken writing to a higher level than just reporting, and made it interesting because I, as a reader, could put myself in the article and feel like I was there. Please tell the students their writing was appreciated.

The booklet you sent up also tells me what the staff at Marshall feels about writing. Obviously, it is held in high regard - and you want to recognize students' quality work. I know many students would want to continue writing if they knew others appreciated it enough to display the work he/she created. The same is probably true for the students in Marshall.

I will pass the booklet on to Keith upon his return. Pass along our thanks to all who contributed to this product.

Respectfully,

Augusta L. Bishop, Assistant Superintendent
