Lost Travelers and Frozen Feet

When I was nine years old Nick,Oxie,Katrina and I were coming back from Kalskag. Our snowmachine stopped about 14 miles out of Kalskag when Joseph met us in a meadow. Joseph said, "There is a storm coming up fast." Nick and I tried to start our snowmachine but it couldn't start so we started to walk back to Kalskag with Joseph. When it got late my dad said that we had to camp but Joseph kept walking to Kalskag to get help. While we were setting up a campfire it started to get windy so we tipped our sled to the side for a shelter to keep us warm. My dad stayed up all night keeping the fire going and giving us warm water to drink.

The next morning I sang a song called, "Honey, Won't You Open that Door" and my mom said that I might call a fox or a wolf. The fire went out and we started on our way back to Kalskag. While we were walking my mom thought she heard Joseph coughing so she called his name, my dad said she was hearing things. So we kept on walking until we saw a snowmachine heading our way. The next day we went to Bethel to see my brother, Joseph, because he had frozen his feet, but my sister and I weren't allowed see him.
