When Lorah was Lost!:When Lorah was Lost!
When Lorah was three years old she and I went shopping in a fairly big city. We didn't go shopping very often and there were a lot of different items to look at. Normally I held Lorah's hand so she wouldn't run ahead of me. At this age she was not afraid of anything. We stopped to look at some clothes at a J.C. Penney's Store. While I was looking at clothes, I let go of her hand. When I was ready to go to the next isle I didn't see her anywhere. I started frantically searching the surrounding isles, but there was no sign of Lorah. I was petrified and shouted Lorah's name out loud. Then I quickly ran to the check out area and asked if the lady had seen a little girl who was yea high with brown hair, wearing blue jeans and a red sweatshirt. Luckily I had my purse with me, and a photo of Lorah was in it. The lady said, "No,"but she immediately called security. The three of us searched the whole store, taking different sections like the toy department. But she wasn't there... nobody looked like the little girl in the photo. I looked out the emergency door, but Lorah was nowhere to be seen. I thought that she had been taken away by someone. I was in tears with fear that my baby was gone! I looked in my shopping cart, then through the clothes I had been looking at before, and again I called Lorah's name. Then I heard Lorah giggle and looked under the clothes racks. There she was sitting on the floor. I stood her up and gave her a big hug, then I talked very sternly with her and gave her a whack on her buttocks. Everyone was glad that she was found. That scary kind of an adventure never happened again! By Janice Olsen
