Theresa is the substitute post mistress of the City of Marshall. She works with the Anchorage Post Office which is in charge of our village post office. She had no training but Adele Cooper who now lives in Anchorage showed her how to operate the whole joint. She is a high school graduate and has worked as a clerk typist for a private business.

She works four hours a day every Saturday mainly by herself. She plans to stay on the job as long as she can, and her boss is Nancy Oney. She gets paid nine dollars an hour.

Her responsibilities are to sort out the mail, send the mail out, serve the customers and send empty equipment like sacks and boxes to the Bethel post office. The best things about her job are when the people from the community are friendly, and also sorting out the mail. The worst things about her job are when she has grumpy customers and when they rush her too much.

The advice she gives to the students is to get training after high school so you will know what the job is like.
