Roberta Fitka

Bookkeeper

Roberta Fitka is a bookkeeper at the Fortuna Ledge Coop Store. Her boss is Alex Nick, the manager of that store. She works from 10 a.m. to 6 or 6:30 p.m. in the office and is responsible for depositing money in the local Bethel bank, doing quarterly bank and tax reports, and making sure the accounting is up to date. The worst thing about her job, she says, is working with unhappy customers, filing, and doing inventory. Roberta enjoys working with money, doing the payroll, keeping track of how much the store makes, working with others, and figuring out where she makes mistakes in the accounting. She says working with the people and what she does is a challenge. Her plans are to work through the winter and take the summer off to go out fishing. Her advice to young people is always pay attention when someone is explaining something to you, learn good math skills, and keep an open mind. In that way you will enjoy your job like I do.
