Nick Isaac

Bilingual/Bicultural Instructor

Nick Isaac works as a Bilingual/Bicultural Instructor here at the Marshall School. His employer is the Lower Yukon School District. He has a high school diploma and some college education. He also had to have some experience in writing, speaking and reading Yupik, plus knowledge of the Yupik culture.

Most of the time Nick works In the Yupik room. He works 7 hours a day and he expects to work at his job for a long time. Most of the time Nick works with students from grades K-12. His bosses are Roger Adams, Sue Stevens and John Gill.

Four of Nick's job responsibilities are to make lesson plans, prepare for different lessons, teach the Yupik language and culture, and give Daunhauer language tests every year. The best thing about Nick's job is working with students and hearing them speak Yupik. The worst thing about his job is having to do paperwork when it's due.

Nick's advice for young people who might want to do his job later is to learn to speak, write and read in the Yupik language, learn about the Yupik culture as much as possible and, by golly, work hard in school!
