Clara Shorty

Librarian/Class Room Aide

Clara is a librarian and classroom aide for grades K-7. Her boss is Roger Adams. Her employer is the Lower Yukon School District. She is getting paid $13.00 an hour and works 6 hours a day, five days a week.

Clara's main responsibilities are: making sure kids learn their different subjects, keeping the library in order, giving new books a number, making sure students follow rules, and doing anything else that needs to be done in the library. She mainly works with grades K-7 except for 4th and 5th grades.

The best thing about her job, she says, is to watch the kids learn new things and to really understand them. The worst thing about her job is when she has to watch the children outside during lunch break and the fights she has to break up there. Her advice to young adults is to finish high school, get a college degree, and take full advantage of all the training you go through.
