Alo Coffee

AVEC

Maintenance Man

Alo is the maintenance man for AIJEC here in Marshall. He is employed by both the city and AVEC. Alo needed training to be a generator operator which he got in Anchorage. Alo mainly works in the generator house with the AVEC mechanic and his brother Andrew, better known as Hitch.

Alo has four job responsibilities which are, to fuel up the generator, check and add oil, clean the generator, and check and tighten the bolts. He likes his job because he has a lot of freedom, and he makes over a thousand dollars a month. That is pretty good for a ninth grade education. But there are also some bad things about his job, like overhauling the generator. Although this is a decent Job, Alo expects to retire soon. "You can't work forever," he says.

Alo's advice to younger people and students: "Go to school and get a better education so you could work at AVEC or maybe even get a better job."
