Agnes Boliver

Head Start Cook

Agnes Boliver is the Headstart cook. Her employer is RuralCap in Anchorage. The kind of training she got for her job was substituting for both the high school and Headstart cooks. Agnes went to school until the 7th grade.

She spends most of her time in the kitchen preparing meals for the students and cleaning up. When she has spare time she goes to the class room and helps the teachers.

Agnes works six hours a day, five days a week. Her boss is Barbara Fitka. Agnes hopes to work at this job for as long as she can.

The responsibilities of her job are: be on time, follow the rules in cooking and preparing menus, to prepare healthy meals for the students, to make sure the kitchen is clean, and to teach the children to wash their hands before they eat. The best part about her job is when 3 or 4 kids help her in the kitchen. She also likes being around the children and helping them learn. The worst part about her job is when she has to wash lots of dishes, plus her kitchen is too small.

Agnes' advice for the young people who might want to do her job in the future is, always be on time when you have a job, always remember that your job comes first, and always be honest with each other.
