OUR SCARY EXPERIENCE
On the eve of Halloween in 1961, a couple of my friends and I decided to take a long walk. The river was frozen and it was a nice night to walk.

We decided to take a walk up to the Gold Mine. My friend Ten was scared, but then Shawn and Christopher said that it wouldn't be scary. So we decided to go up.

When we got there Ten and I were very scared, but Shawn and Christopher assured us that nothing would happen. We went in this old abandoned house and started telling scary stories about long ago. Ten told us to quit telling the stories because she was getting scared. Shawn put his arms around her and she calmed down.

We decided to stay overnight at the Mine because it was too late to go back home. We stayed in the old cabin there. It had a stove so we got some wood and made a fire. The house was so warm that we all fell asleep right away.

In the middle of the night we heard a 'BANG' at the door. We all got up really fast, and I yelled "What was that?" Teri got scared and started running toward Shawn. I ran to Christopher and buried my face in his jacket. Shawn and Christopher told us to be quiet and listen. So we were quiet for what seemed like hours. Then the sound came again. It was followed by a voice saying "Get out of my house! Get out of my house!"

Ten and I got really scared. Then we started toward the door when the voice and the bang came right behind us. It was so loud that it sounded like a scream in my ear.

We all ran out the door as fast as we could, but we didn't seem to be moving. We prayed as hard as we could and then we ran back to our homes in Marshall.

The next day was Halloween. We didn't go out because we got sick from what happened to us. After that we never again walked up to the Gold Mine on the eve of Halloween. We all learned a big lesson from that scary experience.
