Kidnapped Daughter:
Kidnapped Daughter
A long time ago there lived a small
family of three. They were always going to their fishcamp for the
summer. And their daughter was always wondering around. Her
parents would warn her not to go too far or she'd be taken by the
little people who lived in the bluffs. She never listened though,
and one day she walked off. She went way back in the
willows.
As she was walking along, she heard people
talking, and she knew by their language that they were the little
people. She tried to run back to the fishcamp, but they already
felt her presence. When they caught her they put her in a gunny
sack and carried her away.
The little people brought her inside the bluff
they lived in. When they took her out of the gunny sack they cut
off the tip of her nose. By doing this, it showed they posessed
her. She had to cook for them, clean and nurse them.
One day, when the little people were all
sleeping, she untied the skin on her wrists and crawled out of the
bluff. She ran across the tundra, through the willows, swam across
the river and finally came upon her fishcamp. When she came back,
her parents hid her under the bed. Then when the little people
came by and asked for her, the parents said she wasn't there. A
day later, the family went back to their village and told the
story to the people. Her nose proved they weren't
lieing.
