How Raven Got Its Black Feathers

During one cloudy sunny day there lived a Raven in the tundra on top of a tree all alone and with no one to bother him while he was sleeping. When he'd see mice running around he too would go fly around and just enjoy life around him. Like all the other ravens, he would fly to the dump and eat gross dirty food and bugs that stink up the trash by laying eggs in the left over foods. He didn't like the older ravens telling him what to do, so he decided to go somewhere else where noone would boss him around. He was really bothered about the others telling him what was right or wrong.

But everywhere he went they told him what to do. Once they even told him to get out of the shade of his tree because he was sort of brown looking. They told him to fly out into the hot sun's rays so his brown feathers could get black. He tried that because he didn't like to get laughed at. But when it didn't work, he just rested in his favorite tree where other birds were sitting around too just doing nothing during the first warm days of spring. He never got any rest though because almost all the birds were telling him to go out and have some fun like flying way up in the sky. But he just said he was too lazy and, anyway, he said,"What's out there!? All you do is get chased by female ravens. That's a waste of time. I can do better by just sitting around doing nothing."

"Wrong, Raven! Says who? My name is Chester, and I'm a rabbit. I why your feathers are the wrong color and why they don't match with other ravens flying around. So you think nothing works that can change your color? But you're wrong. You see that fresh tundra out there? There's blackberries that are good to eat there. Many Ravens eat them, and when they want to keep their feathers shiny and black they roll around on them. Why don't you try it? Be oft!"

Yes I will try it, the Raven told Chester. And so it was that after Raven ate the blackberries and rolled around on them all his feathers changed into a shiny black color. And he felt a lot happier.
