Eye of a Turkey

Since I was a young chick I've been fed a lot. I remember seeing the humans take away large turkeys and they would never come back. The humans must have been feeding me a lot so they could take me away too. No one knows what happened to the turkeys that they took away. I thought that the large turkeys were taken to a larger barn. I guess I won't know till they come and get me. A few days ago they took away a friend of mine. When they first took him I was scared, but it turned out to be fun meeting new turkeys.

When I got to know almost all the turkeys in the barn, the humane came for me. They walked toward me, picked me up and carried me out of the barn. The next thing I knew I was locked up in a cage. There were only three other turkeys in the cages besides me. I watched a human take another turkey out of his cage and chop his head off. His head lay on the ground while his body was busy running around. After his body stopped running around they took it out. Then they threw his head in the trash.

Finally it was my turn, and they took me out and got me ready. Then, chop! I watched my body go crazy. At first, it seemed like I was on the floor, then I seemed to rise up and fly away. So be careful on Thanksgiving and Christmas. You may be the one who eats me!
