A Dog for a Day
My name is Pudoo, and I live near a big house with four crazy children that tease me a lot when they are feeding me. They pretend to throw the bone to me and I run in the direction they are aiming for. For some reason they wouldn't throw the bone. I get tired of them doing that and one day I got so mad I broke loose and chased the child away. After that he never played those little jokes with me. I also get tired of eating the same old meal, and my throat is very sore from sucking on moose bones. And I'm very, very tired of "bugooking the bones". I always wonder when they are going to give me fish or birds. Every darn morning I awake in the same old cold house. And I always wonder when they are going to pick me some grass to sleep on so that I could be much warmer. Before the snow comes to.

Every Saturday I run around freely. One day I met this other dog named "Geemaaq". After meeting her I went and checked on her every weekend and we play a lot. She taught me how to play all kinds of games. Afterwards I went to my house and played a little with my housekeeper's child. She is a little clumsy. One time she and I were playing around and she tripped over a stick poking out of the ground, and I got the blame for it. I was a little upset at her but not for long because she was too small and couldn't talk very well. Her big sister came out and whipped me, and at that time I got really mad. I just walked away and went into my house.

For five Saturdays in a row I hadn't seen "Geemaq" and I was getting kind of worried. So the next Saturday I went down to her house. She was moaning, and as I looked into the house she was sitting by six little newborn puppies. I was happy until she told me that I was the father.

I dropped my teeth. "Me the father?"

Our so called "Human Gram" would come and feed "Geemaq". She took care of the little puppies too. I guess only after my human family realized that I had to help raise six little adorable puppies they finally started giving me big chunks of meat to "bugook." And the big girl picked me a lot of grass to keep me warm for the winter.
