Two Days of Excitement But No Catch:Two Days of Excitement But No
Catch
"On Friday, September 18th, Roy, Aaron, Ardiss and I took a boat ride up to Willow Creek. It was about 8:00 p.m. when Aaron spotted a bull and a cow and calf eating on a little island of grass. Roy drove to the right side and Aaron got his rifle ready to shoot the bull. As we got closer, the bull moose began to swim to land where it could hide in the trees. Aaron shot first, then Roy, but they both missed! Ardiss and I got really excited for them. They beached the boat and got out to chase the bull. Then Aaron shot again, and missed again! The moose started to run and ran too far away for them to go after it and try to kill it. We then left the area and went to another slough where we saw another cow and calf. By then it was starting to get dark, so we headed back home. The next day, Scott Fitka, James Edison, Ron Fitka and I were on our way up to Willow again when suddenly we saw a big bull moose swimming for shore. It was raining slightly, and the wind and rain on my face kept me from looking around. Ron was driving and he had to make a sudden left turn so he could see the moose. But the moose was already on shore and ran off too fast to catch up to and shoot. That was the biggest bull I've seen in a long time. We then left the area and went up Willow Mine Slough where we saw a wolverine near a bear skin left on a stump. When it ran it scared another brown animal in the trees. We couldn't tell what it might have been. We were seeing a lot of animals in a short while. That was exciting, but after an hour of seeing a lot of different animals, the trip ended with no other animals seen."
