Two Big Bulls:Two Big
Bulls
"Last September during the hunting season I went on a boat ride with my mom and dad, Glen, my son Will and Richard Boots. My dad brought us into a slough, then stopped at a portage that went up into a meadow. Will and my dad went through the portage up to the lake, while the rest of us stayed in the boat. It was really windy that day and we barely heard their guns when they were shooting. When they came back down my dad said that Will had caught a big moose and that we all would have to go back with them and take care of the moose. When we got through the portage, they showed us where the moose had fallen. But we could only see the antlers from where we were. There were also a couple of cows feeding in the lake, and a couple more on the other side of the lake with another bull. We took our time walking over to Will's moose. All that time I kept an eye on the other moose that were there. They just kept on eating and minding their own business. After the men gutted Will's moose and cut it up, my dad told Richard to go ahead and shoot the other moose. After he shot it, they had to walk all the way around the lake to get to it. At one point they were only about 20 feet from the cows in the lake. That was a little scary! After they gutted Richard's moose, we all walked back down to the boat and went home. The next day the men went back and got all the meat."
