No Stumps!:No
Stumps!
During the fall of 1997 I went out hunting with Garrett Evan to the first slough in Owl Slough called Gaqlivik. We were looking for moose in there, but nothing came out, so we decided to go farther inside the slough to try our luck. We were going pretty fast when, all of a sudden, the bolt that holds the steering cable in place came off and we ran up on the beach. Lucky the bank was not flat or we would have slid really far up on top. After we pushed the boat back down in the water, we decided to go to Cainaliivik. On our way we saw Charlie Evan, and he said that his engine had fallen into the water. He managed to pull it out, but now it wouldn't start. So Garrett helped him start his engine for him, and we were on our way again to the meadow at Cainalivik. When we got to the first of two meadows, we didn't see anything for a long time, so we decided to walk to another meadow not too far away from the first one. When we started to look around we saw something brown moving. I couldn't really see what it was because I didn't have my glasses on. I told Garrett that it might be a brown bear because it was moving around like it was really big. He said maybe it was a stump, but I knew it wasn't a stump, and we started to sneak up to it. When we got closer to it, we could see it was two moose, a cow and a calf. We laughed, and then started to tease them. When we made certain moose noises their ears would move around very strangely. It was very cool to watch. After that we took off back to Marshall. By: David Andrew
