No Moose Lots Of Fish

"It was two years ago on Labor Day weekend. When I called Yute Air and asked them if they had a flight from Russian Mission to Marshall on Labor Day because I did not want to be late for work on Tuesday and they said that they did so I went to Russian Mission to meet up with Quinten McCubrey, the principal of the local school. It was going to be my first time moose hunting.

We went upriver to Tucker's Slough where we checked the meadows and other places where moose would be. Just before we checked the meadows we saw a black bear, but it went into the trees even before Quinten could get his gun.

We set up camp along the bank some distance up Tucker's. That night we heard two moose walking in the water behind the tent where we were sleeping. We looked out of the tent and tried to see them through the opening, but it was too dark to see anything, so we went back to sleep.

I never thought that finding a moose could take more than one day. I found that it could take a week or more to get one.

We returned to Russian Mission without any moose, but we went over to Seven Mile Slough and did some "catch and release" fishing for pike. We were catching one after another, and it was the best fishing I had ever had in my whole life."
