First Moose

"When I was nine years old, my uncle Anthony Oney and Vernon Evan took me camping up to 12 Mile Slough. My grandpa had loaned me a 30-30 for the hunting trip. When we got up to 12 Mile we pitched a tent for the night.

While my uncle and Vernon were in camp, I went wandering through the trees. But I wasn't prepared for what I was about to see. When I looked up I saw a monstrous moose standing across from me. It was the first time I had ever seen a moose! I was so frightened by the sight of the big moose I ran away from it. I ran back to camp and told my uncle and Vernon about the huge thing I'd seen. They told me that the moose probably got so scared of me he ran in the opposite direction!"
