By Spotlight

"In the middle of September, Garrett ("Loots"), Alvin Jr., and I went up river to Kuik to do some bird hunting. We didn't see any ducks or geese, and after a while we got bored. Then "Loots" started to idle slowly through the sloughs. Far in the distance I could see a moose. By the way it was standing, I couldn't tell if it was a cow or a bull. As we got closer, though, I saw that it was a bull and knocked it down. We didn't skin the moose right away. We came back home and got a spotlight. Lucky we did, because by the time we were done butchering the moose, it was already dark."
