A Bull Or A Cow?

"John John Andrew, Nick Andrew Sr. and I went out moose hunting on September 10, 1998.

We camped upriver around Charlie Boots' camp for a couple of days, then seeing no moose for those two days, we started heading up the river even farther, toward Holy Cross. We were at our fish camp just outside Holy Cross when John Tikiun Sr., Ozzie Diemientiff and Moses Duny came by to tell me that my brother Richard was calling on the VHF looking for me.

So, I called up to find out what they wanted. When I got in touch with them they told me that my uncle had been shot and had passed away. So Nick Andrew Sr. took me up to Holy Cross the next morning. Then he went back down again and started hunting with John John.

I stayed up at Holy Cross for three days, then after the funeral I went moose hunting with my brother Ben and Fred Pete. We had to go up the Innoko River towards Shageluk where we could camp. We were only about five to ten miles out when I caught my moose. It was pretty dark when I shot it. I couldn't even tell if it was a bull or a cow, but I shot it anyway. It turned out to be a big bull. After butchering it and packing the meat into the boat, I went home to Holy Cross."
