Twenty-five Fish!

"I really didn't do much this past Christmas vacation, but I went manaqing once behind the mountain at Kayakutuk. My husband Bill and I went on a Saturday, and we caught 25 fish while we were over there. We were the only ones back there that day.

On Christmas day I had a family dinner. It was nice having my family over on Christmas day to spend some time with them.

We also went to the fiddling dance they had here on New Year's day. The city of Marshall had invited the Emmonak band to play up here, but only a few of the band players came. Most of the others stayed at Emmo to be with their families and to welcome in the New Year's there. So some of the Marshall band players played with the Emmo band. A few of the people here were worried about the Y2K thing, but I had no worries. I knew nothing was going to happen. At midnight on December 31, 1999, Bill and I watched the fireworks display they had down at the beach. I enjoyed it very much.

During Slaviq I only went to two houses and that was it.

I enjoyed doing very little over the Christmas break, and I guess that's what made it fun."
