A Fun Vacation

Christmas vacation started on the 22nd of December and ended on the 16th of January. During my vacation I spent most of my time with Mary, but besides being with her, I did a number of things. I went down to Pilot Station a couple of times to watch the Men's Basketball Tournament. The ball games were very exciting, especially when the Marshall Lost Boyz and St. Mary's Young Guns were playing the championship game. The Lost Boyz won by 4 points!

On the 31st of December and 1st of January the Marshall Race Committee and other organizations set up a two day Fund Raiser square dance. Half the money they made went to Danny and Dolly Myers who lost their home on the 31st of December to a sudden fire. Many people from up and down the river attended the square dance and had a fun time. Mary and I went to the dance but we didn't stay very long because Mary got sleepy. While we were at the dance, I enjoyed watching the dancers and the games they played.

On the 7th of January the Russian Orthodox Christmas started. The first day, the big star started at the Russian Orthodox Church, then went to Paul Boots' house. The second day the little star did the same. The leader for the big star was Tom Andrew. The leader for the little star was Jason Isaac. Since I hadn't brought Mary "Slavic," Jason told me that I should bring her along with the little star. Within just a couple houses my coat pockets were filled with many goodies. During the those two days it was quite tiresome for me because Mary is now a handful! The little star ended before the big star. Slavic ended on the 11th of January. After that was over, it got boring!

On the 30th of December I did inventory work at Hunter Sales. It was okay for a while because I was put in charge by Leslie until Norma came. Then on the 31st of December and the 1st of January I did inventory work up at the Coop store. This time it was a little easier because I had a partner, Victor Shorty. It was a little hectic for a while because we had to count the baby food and they were very unorganized! Other than that, it was okay, and the pay wasn't bad.

So my vacation was not always relaxing but also tiresome and, above all fun!
