Traditional Council

Delores Hunter
Administrator

Delores Hunter was born in Bethel, Alaska, in 1954. She grew up in Marshall and went to school at Marshall and at Mt. Edgecumbe where she graduated in 1972. She then went to college and studied Sociology with a focus on children with special needs. She graduated in 1976.

Delores has worked with the Traditional Council since March, 1996, and plans to work there until she can organize the necessary documents for future success of the Council and train another person for the job. She likes her job because it is challenging to organize the paper trail, but she doesn't like disciplining the actions of other employees.

Delores was first interested in the job when she learned the Traditional Council could have access to funds that would benefit the community. The training she needed before she got her job was in bookkeeping, management of funds and patience. The training she has received since she got her job is in tax and legal issues. Delores feels that her job keeps her stimulated because each day is a learning experience on a variety of issues. The best thing about her job is the flexibility in hours and the worst thing is being patient with government bureauacracy.
