Barbara Sandlin
Elementary Teacher

Barb Sandlin was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on October 18,1945, in Butterworth Hospital on the sixth floor. She went to school first in Michigan and later in Phoenix, Arizona. She went to Mae Bartlett Herd Elementary School and West Phoenix High School. After high school, she went to Phoenix College and Arizona State University. She has also attended six different universities for graduate work, in elementary education, social studies, and psychology.

She has been teaching here for one month and plans to work here until she retires. She loves her job and loves teaching young students. She always wanted to be a teacher when she was young and also wanted to be the "boss." Before she got her job she needed a college education and a teaching certificate.

Barb says that her job keeps her stimulated because the little kids are always amazing in what they say and do. The best thing she likes about her job is the kids. The worst thing is the bulletin boards she has to do. She says that her family keeps her happy and that she learned a lot about kids from her own experience as a parent
