Karen Ellis
Secretary

Karen Hunter-Ellis was born in 1970 in Bethel, Alaska. She grew up in Marshall. Karen went to the Covenant School in Unalakleet for one year and when it closed down she went to Edgecumbe High School for a year. The last two years she went to school in Marshall. After graduating she went to college for two years--one year at U.A.F. and the other year at U.A.A. She is still taking correspondence classes but she hasn't graduated yet.

She has been working as secretary for two and a half years and plans to work as long as possible. Karen likes her job because she supervises herself and it is nice and quiet. She started out as a sub and eventually started working full time. She didn't get any training before or after she got her job, and she had to learn on her own.

The best thing about her job is counting all the money. The worst is that there is nothing to do most of the time.

Karen has a family and she says it really makes alot of difference because it affects her job performance. Her family comes first.

Paul Coffee
Supervisor

Paul was born in Bethel, Alaska, in 1959. He grew up in Marshall and went to school at St. Mary's Mission and Mountain Village where he graduated. He then went to college and studied business management but he did not graduate.

He's worked for two and a half years with the Fish Plant and plans to work as long as possible. He likes his job because it is a summer job. He was first interested in his job because of the pay and he got on-the-job training for his job. He is going to get further training for the fish smoker they're going to use next summer before the 1998 season begins. His job keeps him stimulated because the fish have to be shipped out as soon as possible, and it is fun to work with different people.

The best thing about his job is the flexible work schedule, and the worst is working with aging equipment. Paul has a family and this affects his job performance because when he can't find a baby sitter, he has to stay home and baby sit.
