Frank Keim
Teacher

Frank was born in Panama City, Florida, in September 24, 1942. He grew up in Canada just outside of Toronto in a place called Streetsville. He went to school in the Toronto area too and graduated from Streetsville High School. He went to college at U.A.F. and at the University of New Mexico. He got his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from U.A.F. His majors were social studies, anthropology and education. Frank has been working for 25 years as a teacher and plans to work for two more years, more or less. He likes his job because it keeps him constructively busy. He especially likes to work with young people and tries to motivate them to participate responsibly in their society when they become adults.

He was interested in becoming a teacher because he was influenced by one of his highschool teachers whom he really respected and wanted to be like. One particular teacher was a communist who really believed in social equality and empowerment of people.

To teach, Frank needed a teacher's certificate which he got from the U.A.F. He also needs to take courses every year to renew his certificate. His job keeps him very stimulated because of all the books he and his students produce every year.

The best thing about his job is working with students and trying to motivate them. The worst is having to fix computers because he is not a computer repairman, he says. Frank has a family whom he participates in supporting by working as a teacher.
